Job Title: Business Intelligence & Operations Intern

Department: Business Intelligence & Operations

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Type: Part-Time, 29 Hours per Week (September - December)



Summary:

 

The mission of the Boston Celtics internship program is to educate its participants in all aspects of operating a professional sports organization. Through observation and practical experience, interns learn how to function in a professional environment that requires a high energy level, the ability to perform under pressure and the utilization of essential time management skills. Through these developments, the Boston Celtics strive to successfully prepare their interns to compete for positions in the professional sports industry. 


 Responsibilities: 

 

  • Assist in the development of SQL scripts used to build Tableau server data sources and validate data accuracy
  • Build and validate data visualizations in Tableau, summarizing data in a way that is straightforward and informative
  • Assist with data accuracy audits in CRM system, including day-to-day maintenance of data
  • Update and analyze leads in email marketing database
  • Assist in tagging and categorization of social media posts
  • Assist Ticket Operations in a variety of Archtics related ticketing projects such as pricing structure, data maintenance, financial monitoring, and third-party integrations
  • Process and report on ticket donations for Shamrock Dreams program to Community Engagement
  • Field inbound fan questions related to tickets and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Support various fan engagement programs and solving in-person ticketing issues at the TD Garden Box Office during home games
  • Research and present best practices relating to business analytics and operations in the sports industry
  • Other collaborative duties as assigned by the Director of Business Intelligence


Qualifications


  • Strong critical thinking, a growth mindset, an deductive problem-solving
  • Detail-oriented and thoughtful approaches to ensure accuracy and understanding of projects
  • Interest in developing ideas and projects from the ground up and being a self-starter
  • Enthusiasm to understand data, database management, and reporting and analytics
  • Ability to communicate and work with multiple departments and senior management


Learning Opportunities:


  • How to build data visualizations in Tableau, including how to tell stories and how to use data to drive insights to key stakeholders
  • Writing effective and efficient SQL scripts used to pull, validate, and manipulate data
  • A macro-level understanding of the role data plays in an organization, including how data flows out of and into systems used for ticketing, CRM, and email marketing
  • The ins and outs of a CRM system that manages hundreds of thousands of customer records
  • Foundation training and regular use of Ticketmaster’s Archtics ticketing system, the most commonly used ticketing system in professional sports


Requirements:


  • Must be a junior or senior undergraduate student or graduate student
  • Academic Credit
  • Ability to work scheduled home games and events


The expected range of annual salary/hourly rate and potential commission, if applicable, is included below. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this/these range(s) will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market and industry considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure, performance, and standing with the company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s background, pertinent experience, and qualifications. 

Hourly Rate Range: $15.00
